Oi Twitter – Lets all be a #socialmediasanta

Shelter Scotland have lots of kids from homeless families at their South Lanarkshire services who might not get a present this year.

Us Twitter users can make a real difference this Christmas, why not join me as a #socialmediasanta. Here’s how:

– Check out Amazon’s best selling toys & games. Lots of which are under a tenner.

– Most of the kids are aged 7-12 so pick a gift you think they’d love.

– Add to Basket, use the project’s address at checkout (below) and add a wee message.

– Voila. You’ve made a kid who might not have otherwise got a present this year very happy.

Here’s the full address for your Amazon orders, if you live nearby you can drop off your present in person:

Shelter Families Project, 66a Victoria St, Blantyre, G72 0BS

The project received 20 presents last year, can we increase that number in 2012? I’ll be sending a toy to the Blantyre project this week, I’d urge everyone who follows me on twitter to do the same. Lets make it a really special Christmas!

You can let your followers know about it using the hashtag #socialmediasanta

  1. Amazon is listed as it is, generally, the simplest checkout process online when sending to alternative addresses. #SocialMediaSanta and Shelter Scotland are in no way affiliated to Amazon UK. There are other alternative online retailers or you might wish to support your local shop and send the present on yourself.

  2. I hope I haven’t found out about this too late! Trying to spread the word on my own Twitter and Blog. Good on you for making it happen. Wish all best wishes for the season, Helen x.

  3. Still time if you’re buying online Helen – this is the final day you can get free delivery via Amazon UK. Alternatively people can support their local shop and mail the present themselves.

  4. Am I too late to do this? Want to participate as its a local charity and think that’s important. Can you let me know ASAP so that I can click!

  5. Hi Helen, Ross is at an event (live streamed http://www.livestream.com/beyongolia) but judging by his most recent comment it seems too late for Amazon to deliver by post, but nothing preventing you going to the shops and handing something in if this is local? As I’d already posted previously, I received an alert to your comment…

  6. 23 Dec 11am is the final delivery date on Amazon if you select next day delivery. Thanks you two!
